  • What types of IELTS exam exist?

    There are two types of IELTS exams: Academic and General.

  • How do I choose between Academic and General IELTS?

    Basically, your qualifications determine which type you need, because different professions require different language skills.

  • How is IELTS structured?

    IELTS exams consist of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking tasks.

  • Where can I pass an IELTS exam?

    British Council is the sole institution entitled to organise IELTS exams in Hungary. You can take the exam either in Budapest or in Szeged.

  • How much does an IELTS exam cost?

    An IELTS exam costs 61.000 HUF. (January of 2018)

  • What can I do if I need special exam conditions?

    It is different in every case, but generally you have to send in your medical papers to British Council at least three months before your exam date.

  • How long do I have to wait for the results of my IELTS exam?

    You can check your results 13 days after your written exam on the website of the British Council.

  • How can I receive my language exam certificate?

    After British Council has revealed the results of your IELTS exam online, you have the opportunity to receive it in person or have it delivered to you in the mail.

  • How often are there exam dates for an IELTS language exam?

    Currently there are exams twice a month.

  • What documents do I need to bring with me for an IELTS language exam?

    We recommend to take with you your valid identity card, address card and your passport. They do not accept driver’s license or Student card for identification.

  • What can I bring with me into the exam room?

    You can take with you into the exam room your identity cards and some water in a completely transparent bottle. They will provide you with pen, pencil and eraser.

  • How much before the exam should I arrive at the location of the IELTS exam?

    We recommend you to arrive at the location at least 35–40 minutes before starting the IELTS exam.

  • Where can I put my personal belongings (e.g. bag, jacket)?

    You can use the checkroom at the location of the exam.

  • Can I go to the bathroom during the IELTS exam?

    Yes, you can go to the bathroom during the exam, but you will lose valuable minutes from your exam time. Therefore we recommend you to use the bathroom before the exam.
