Four-Legged family members

We have several clients who expressed their wish to take their cats or dogs with them to Australia. As there is not enough easily accessible information on the topic, even vets might not know the necessary steps to take. Let us provide you with some regulations to bear in mind to be able to transport your four-legged family members to Australia as smoothly and quickly as possible.

We would hereby draw your attention to the fact that the documentation process is the task of the masters of the animals. We are happy to help with the far not comprehensive but essential information about it, but unfortunately we do not have the chance to complete the whole process for you.

The first and most important thing to bear in mind is that transporting pets to Australia is a very complicated, long and - last, but not least - a very expensive process. It also requires a quite thorough organization :

• The animal must be living in the exporting country for 150 days
• The animal must be at least 6 months old
• The animal cannot be pregnant longer than 21 days
• There are certain dog and cat species which cannot be brought to Australia : Dogo Argentino, Fila Brazileiro, Japanese Tosa, Pit Bull Terrier or American Pit Bull, Perro de Presa Canario or Presa Canario
• The animal must have a microchip of one of the following : Avid, Trovan, Destron or any other types compatible with ISO
• You will have to provide a cage to the animal for its transportation which is in line with the regulaitions of the AQIS (Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service)
• Adequately certified documents of the vaccinations the animal received
• A valid booking at the AQIS
