Our story began at Christmas in 2014 when we travelled from the winter to the summer to visit our friends in Adelaide, South Australia. We fell in love with the city at once. The beautiful, clean environment, the smiling people, and the whole atmosphere of the place, not the mention the ‘no worries’ attitude, has captured our hearts. Our children stated on the first day that they wanted to live here and never return to Hungary. On the second day we started to feel, too, that this trip is going to be so much more than just an ordinary vacation.
Since we had a good life in Hungary, we did not want to move to the far end of the world just to have a better life – we wanted to come because Australia and an adventure was calling for us. So, we put ourselves to task: we are going to get a permanent resident visa. Having two children meant that other, riskier visas, such as the student visa, were not an option for us. It was a long process, and we had to change agents in the meantime, that’s when we met Edith and Csaba. On the immigration presentation organized by them we saw that knowledge and experience that CSE Australia represents. The whole application process was constantly changing, lists had opened and closed, condition had become stricter, and so on – all in all, we couldn’t have done it without their help.
After two and a half years of hard work, the immense amount of time and energy invested, we were finally granted the permanent resident visa in June. We were well prepared by then, just like an “overdue pregnancy”. We had time to prepare ourselves for the change both physically and mentally. We and the kids had a go in our new life, this ADVENTURE with great determination and excitement. We were called really brave by many, and we said that we didn’t want to look back to this moment we when grow old and regret not coming here because of sticking to a career or some other sort of pressure from outside. When if not now, this is the real challenge… We arrived to Adelaide in June and we have been enjoying every moment of it ever since. It is unbelievably good to see how fast the children got into the swing of things. They love the school (this really wasn’t the case back home), and we feel grateful every day to be able live at the seaside.
